As much as I love red carpets (bc I’m a fan of dresses + attractive dudes in suits, sue me), can we just agree that every red carpet interviewer is the worst person ever?

# HP

aboutthosedays:

Let me take a moment to talk about this scene and some other things. I just want to say first of all, that most of this text it’s me expressing my opinion, but some other things, are cinematic elements (I’m a film student) and your argument is invalid. First, I want to talk about some graphics of the HHr dance made by RHr shippers, containing parts of the book where Harry says that he sees Hermione like a sister, that the scene was only about a friend trying to comfort each other, and that’s all. I think funny the self-assertion, is like that thing: “I keep repeating one thing to try to convince me”, but I tell you the truth: This scene bothers them, hurts them, let them nervous because they know that in deep, this scene is not about two friends, but about two people in love.

1) And that is why there are several bad comments on youtube, cursing the HP producers because they included this scene in the movie because it’s not in the book. But let me tell you one thing, there are many RHr scenes in the movie that don’t exist in the book, and Why? Because they have to show something between them, if not, how to convince an audience that this is the couple that should stay together in the end? This is the reason why some RHR scenes seem to be very enforced, because they were made, mostly in recent movies, and even then, there was no greater tension between Ron and Hermione.

2) That’s why during this scene, the entire theater was silent, you could not hear anything but the music playing in the background, you could feel the tension stamped in Harry’s face and Hermione’s too, and beyond that, the tension in the public who’s watching the filme. There was that moment when everyone thought “they’re going to kiss?” and they wished for this, because this scene is so charged with tension, love, looks, symbols used in several romantic scenes that create this atmosphere, which gives the feeling of butterflies in the stomach.

3) RHR shippers are angry because they know that Ron and Hermione will never have a scene like this (yes, they will kiss in the upcoming movie, but as I said here, will be a quick kiss, because there are more important things to focus). This is the kind of scene that all hope that your couple has, and we have it. With this lack of scenes between them, RHr have to use their imagination, fill gaps, and the irony in that is that HHr shippers who are called delusional, when Harry and Hermione have many scenes, endless, we got hugs, kisses, looks, confidence, anxiety, little fights, respect, other characters that ship HHR, we have a songtrack and look, a fucking music … AND, we also have a lot of moments in the books. And that makes them unhappy. And the anger increases even more when they discover that RHR had a scene and they decided to cut it. A scene that was relevant, because then Harry sees a face in the mirror, but they decided to leave behind. While the dance scene, they could easily have left out, they kept in the film.

4) Another thing that makes them uncomfortable, is the fact that the HP producers ship HHR, and they insist in trolling the cannon in every scene, because it’s always like this, shows something between Ron and Hermione and then: Harry. Even in the scene where Ron is in the ward, and Hermione stays with him, the track song in the background is the HHr song. And that said, I’d really like to talk about one thing, the looks. Whenever Harry looks at Hermione with Ron in the movies, we can see the sadness in his eye. This happens when he wakes up and sees the two sleeping, when he looks back and Hermione is taking care of Ron, also the scene of the ward, the scene of the table when Ron doesn’t remember what he spoke at the infirmary, and this also happens to Hermione in relation to Cho/Ginny, but let’s get back to Harry, he always seems powerless to observe them, as if he had lost something and he could not do anything about it. And then, we see the difference in the look of Ron, the anger in his eye when he sees Hermione with Harry, especially in the last movie and before you say “It was guilty of the locket”, I tell you, this also happened to Krum, that look. What I mean here is that Harry lost the love of his life, he knows how to accept, he wants the happiness of Hermione and tries not to interfere, try to be happy for her, even if this lets he sad. Not so with Ron, when he “loses”, it is like a spoiled child, looking for Hermione, and whoever is with her.

5) But now, the first place: the JK recognition that could have been that way. Because we always been seen as crazy, donkeys who can’t read the books, the disgusting people that ship HHr because they are like siblings. When JK said that “it could have been that way”, that something bery intense happened between them, that we have grounds and reasons to ship HHR, that was a slap in their face. Because that deconstructed any argument that they can give.

But now, let’s go back to the dance scene.I don’t have another word than “perfect” to categorize this scene, because it was used many tricks to convey the romance. There are some attitudes that symbolize the romance and they dramatize in the films, examples of this are scenes at the airport, flowers, sighing, serenading, looks, dance, use of hands (palms sweating, afflicted hands) in the case of the HHR scene: Harry offers his hand to Hermione, and has a close. I want to make clear here that there is NOTHING in a film, a attitude, a part of the scenery, clothes, etc … that is placed at random. EVERYTHING is thought by the director, filming technique, if they will be slow, if he will shoot the actors in profile, if he’s going to close on something, EVERYTHING. That’s his job. And we have this scene: Dance (which is a dramatization of gestures used in several romantic films, the best couples has a dance scene), the looks, the close-ups, afflicted hands, sighs, and we have close at hand, when Harry invites her to dance. My teacher said something about it, that when, in a scene, they emphasize a gesture with a close, like the hand, this has a meaning, it’s as if the character was inviting the other to take a dip in his soul, be part of it, is a symbolic gesture, the wait, we don’t know if the person will give a hand to the other, an invitation for who is watching the scene, is beautiful. And we have the silence between the characters, they talk with their eyes and pass all the excitement with the looks, we have low-light environment, and THE SONG. They didn’t choose that song at random, they have not specifies that part of the music at random, the stanzas of the song tell us what the characters are feeling, it’s as if the lyrics are the words of those character. The preparation for this scene is perfect.

We see Harry outside the tent, and then he hears a song and go into the tent, Hermione is there, sitting, brittle, curled up on the ladder, and when he comes in, she gives this beautiful look to him and then he sits down, the camera slowly approaching, note in that moment: the hands, AND, we have two lamps: one in Harry’s side, and the other, in Hermione’s side. Does anyone remember what Dumbledore said? “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” Close in Harry, the sigh, the stare, and then … the invitation, Hermione doesn’t know what he wants to do but accept his invitation, because she trusts him. INCREASES THE VOLUME OF MUSIC, so that we can clearly understand the lyrics. When Harry take the locket, you see the look of estrangement in her eyes, as if she was wondering “Hey, what you doing?” but she didnt stop him, when he puts the locket aside: she sighs. He walks to the middle of the ttent, holding her hands, no words, and now we can see the doubt in her face, she has no idea what he will do … Then he begun the first moves, and she realize that is just a dance and smile disappointed. But see, she loves this man, she trusts him, and she enjoys the moment to forget everything, just to be: Harry & Hermione. As has always been for all the books/movies, it was always them. When everybodys gone, when even his best friend left him, Hermione is ALWAYS on his side, no matter the situation, no matter the size of the danger, she is there, with him: always. Together they lived the true emotional journey. And Harry, for me, he isn’t just trying to confort her, trying to relieve her disappointment for being “abandoned” by her future boyfriend, but I think too, that Harry wanted show to her with the dancing, that she can be happy, smile, without Ron. HE can make her smile, make her happy, that he it’s there, and he loves her but he says nothing, of course, as I said, he is not selfish, he knows that Hermione is already in love with Ron, he will not talk. He wants that she just see it, feel his love, with that simple dance. But Hermione, expect that he do something, because let’s face she always loved him.

As the music runs out, Harry presses his face in Hermione’s shoulder, with that little smile, eyes closed, oh my, is heartbreaking. the tension is getting higher, they separate their faces so slowly, Harry with his eyes fixed on her, and she looks to his mouth quickly, and when the camera leaves the close, we can see her gulping, sighing and then she stands still, hoping that Harry does something, but she realizes that he will not do anything about it, SHE KNOW THAT HE ALSO FELT WHAT SHE FELT, but he will just stand there. She turns away, and gives a quick stop before finally leaving the scene. And then, close Harry again, his empty eyes, an expression of disappointment, seeing the woman he loves walks away.

And that is how you do a romantic scene, not two people throwing stones in the lake. That to me is the representation of a perfect anguished romantic scene. The producers have done so well, but so well… that’s the kind of scene that no matter how many times you watch, you will always be with the stomach wrapped, with the expectation of a kiss, even though you know how the scene ends. With that sweet sadness than what could have been. I always cry in this scene, is my favorite among, and I think it’s better than any kiss (and we have a very sexy one). And when people remember this film, this is the kind of scene that will never be forgotten. (and sorry for grammatical errors.)
